Dear all,

What is the meaning of the expression "beyond prejudice" in the fillowing context:

"IF WE CAN JUST MOVE BEYOND OUR OWN PREJUDICES, WE'LL FIND THAT THE AVOCADO IS MORE THAN GUACAMOLE"

Thanks a lot.

"Prejudice" is when we pre-judge some thing. They are ideas we have in our minds that may not be based upon a full and fair evaluation of the thing, but are based upon stereotypes, common beliefs or some other superficial evaluation.

In this case, the author is saying do not pre-judge avocados as only good for making guacamole (a type of dip for foods). He is asking us to move beyond our prejudice and to evaluate the vegetable anew.

Can't thank you enough for that thorough explanation
