In the US, in the trade it's called a lamp. It screws into a fixture. Barb D is correct. Generally, consumers refer to it as a bulb.

I usually call it "one of those twisty light bulbs."

If I wanted to call it somehing more formal, I'd call it a CFL bulb.

I wouldn't call it just a fluorescent bulb -- even though I guess it is, I think of those as the big commercial lights in large spaces. Right or wrong (and I know it's wrong) that's what I think of.

Consumers will call these bulbs. To us (not in the industry) a lamp is the thing you screw this thing into.

I agree with Barb. When I think of a fluorescent light, I think of the long tube-shaped (ugly) ones that you get in supermarkets and terrible restaurants (and which some of had in our kitchens in the 1970s).

To me, this is just a lightbulb or possibly specifically an energy-efficient lightbulb. In the UK, the traditional lightbulbs are being officially phased out and we will only be able to buy the energy-efficient ones soon.
