Can we say "Take the Metro"?

1) I need to take the Metro to New Friend's colony from Shivalik"?

2) What should be said in place of this
"You can change here for the speedy Metro"?

Underground urban transit systems generally have a locally-recognized common name. In Paris and Montreal it's the métro. In Washington, D.C. it's the metro. In New York City and Toronto it's the subway. In London, England it's the underground or the tube. San Francisco has both the subway and the BART ("Bay Area Rapid Transit").

Whatever it's called, you take it.
