[Idiom] CARRY IT VERY WELL

A woman was trying on a dress, and a guy said "you carry it very well."

What does "carry it" mean, or what does "it" refer to?

What does "carry it" mean, or what does "it" refer to?

"It" refers to the look/design of that particular dress. It doesn't sound very natural to me. I'd be more inclined to say:

It looks good on you.
It suits you.
Not everyone would be able to wear that dress, but you can carry it off!
