Greetings, this question is in a TOEFL test practice exam.

Water levels in the great lakes (fluctuate dramatically)1 over periods of years (by as much as one meter)2, and during the spring runoff, the level (may rise and fall)3 by as much as two meters particularly in lake Erie, (the shallow of the five)4.

Please add grammatical explanation.

First we need to know what you think the wrong part might be.

Well I think it's number 2. The word much should be many, because meter is a countable noun.

Am I correct?

No, that part is correct. Have a look at number 4.

No. The word "shallow" should be "shallowest".

"Great Lakes" should be capitalized, as should "Lake Erie."
