Hello teachers,

Colors (black, white, yellow, green,.....etc) is gradable adjective or ungradable?

I searched it in the forum and I found some threads but they were not related to my question.

No source/Self made grammar question
Many thanks in advance.

What do you mean by "gradable"?

I mean very red, very green, very blue... etc.

I was very green when I started working at the newspaper.

Can we also use it with "absolutely" or not? I mean "absolutely green"

Not if you want it to mean "more green than very green", no.

My lawn was very brown earlier in the year but, after the heavy rain we had this summer, it is the greenest I have ever seen it.

The more my father drank, the pinker/redder his face became.

So, yes, we have comparative and superlative forms of colours, and we can use 'very' with colours.
