Hi,

When writing a letter or an email, if I end with "If you wish to discuss this further with the manager, please call [telephone number]', is the comma necessary? I see it written with and without a comma and I don't know which is correct.

Thank you

I would use a comma there. I would also use a full stop after "Thank you" at the end of your post. Even such a short sentence needs to end with an appropriate punctuation mark.

I would use the comma too, as I was taught that I should put a comma when an if-clause comes at the start of the sentence:

If you wish to discuss this further with the manager, please call [telephone number].

But when the if-clause comes at the end, there is no need for the comma:

Please call [telephone number] if you wish to discuss this further with the manager.

Mind you, I wouldn't lose much sleep if someone didn't follow this pattern.
