Hello, Arzgol:

(1) As I understand it:

Compare to

To liken two things (to say that X = Y; Y = X).

Mother (angry): You are just like your brother.

Tom: No, I'm not. Stop comparing me to him.

Compare with

To show the similarities and the differences between two things.

How would you compare life in your country today with life in

your country ten years ago?

(2) Therefore:

Compared with Westerners, Asians eat more vegetables.

(3) Of course, many native speakers do not follow this rule, for

many do not know this rule. So do not be surprised if you see

these terms used interchangeably.

Thank you so much Theparser for explaining the rules so carefully; however, the second part of my question ''She should work more on/in the speaking section.'' which preposition is better?

I appreciate taking the time answering my question.

Work ON that.

:up:Work in is possible in some contexts, but where the work is directed towards something on is right. For the other case, here's an example: 'As an interpreter I have worked more in Portuguese than in Spanish.' {Matter of fact, my Spanish could do with some work on it.;-))
