[Grammar] completed or has completed

Hello,

I can't figure out which tense is correct in the following sentence....can you help me please?: (The 20 hours' course has just finished.)

-she has almost completed one whole level in 20 hours! (Present perfect besause present consequence: today her level is higher)
-she almost completed one whole level in 20 hours ( the 20 hours' course is finished> past simple)

I would say that you could use both with slightly different meanings. (You have already explained the difference in the brackets.)
