Hi,

my student sent me the following text in his latest homework:

It is possible - if an employee worked in several countries of the European Union - for them to receive separate pensions from each country. However, they must meet the conditions that are required in each of these countries.

The highlighted part troubles me a bit - it sounds off, but I can't really place it and I'd like to confirm if my thinking is right. Would you correct the sentence like so?

However, they must meet the conditions as required in each of these countries.

It's a silly question, but if I can double-check - why not? :)

That's fine, but wordy. Your version is not an improvement -- delete 'as'.

However, they must meet the conditions required in each of these countries. (y)

I see, thank you very much. :)
