I have learned that we have two kinds of stating contrast in English.
Type 1: is to add opposite idea (Contrast)
Type 2: is unexpected or surprising continuation (Concession)

The example of type 1:
San Francisco is cool during the summer, while Log Angeles is generally hot.

The example of type 2:
Cigarette smoking is a factor in longevity, yet Japanese and other long-lived Asian have a very high rate of tobacco use.

Now, I want to know if my analysis correct in this way:

However, but, whereas, whilst, while used for stating contrast

However, nevertheless, nonetheless, still, but, yet, although, though, even though, in spite of , despite used for stating concession

I am not sure about my analysis.

And, how about the following?
On the other hand, in contrast.

Try:

I have learned that there are two ways to express contrast in English.

Say:

An example of type one (not "the example").

Your analysis is good. Your example of 'Type 1' is a definitive case of contrast. Your example for 'Type 2" concedes that although the first part of the statement is true, there are unexplained exceptions.

"On the other hand, in contrast ---------" seems to be Type 1 on its face.
Thanks.
I think 'however' is not used to make a contrast and i was wrong. It just used to make a concession.

Where did you find that definition of "concession"?

She speaks very good English but I don't think she is a native speaker. I'd say she is South Asian.

I haven't found that definition for concession. Not in Dictionary.com nor Merriam-webster nor the glossary for this site.

She is certainly not a native speaker of American English.
