I have a question:

nytimes.com/2012/09/17/us/politics/mitt-romney-seeks-to-turn-campaign-focus-to-his-plans.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

"That draft had mentioned Afghanistan, the omission of which from Mr. Romney’s speech drew criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike. "

Does 'criticism' mean the unitary act of criticising someone, or an uncountable mass of comments criticising someone?

Does 'criticism' mean the unitary act of criticising someone, or an uncountable mass of comments criticising someone?

It means that both Democrats and Republicans criticised the fact that Romney's speech did not mention Afghanistan.
