A: It was an accident, but it really hurt. So I cursed. And then the boy started crying.

B: Why did you curse (at) him?

A: I didn't curse (at) him, I cursed (at) the pain.

I 'curse/cursed' used naturally here? And would you add 'at' all three places in the dialog? Thank you.
 
I think there is slight difference with and without using "at". "At" implies "on the spot" whereas without the "it" is not necessarily so.
