Hi,

The sentence below is a part of an application guidelines. I just can not realize the meaning of the verb " cycle through".

Any help will be appreciated.

To change the current tracking direction the right mouse button will cycle through the available tracking direction options. A similar action is achieved by selecting the mouse icon from the ‘view’ toolbar.

Thanks

For example, there are three options: A, B, and C, and A is now highlighted.
If you right-click once, twice, and thrice, it will move to B, C, and back to A respectively. That's a cycle.

That's what I think, but I am not a teacher.

In this case 'cycle' is a synonym for 'rotate', as Matthew has aptly explained.

 My mother, with 3 boys and 3 girls, often used cycle through the names of the appropriate sex. Often I was called 'MickBillBob'. ;-)

Seems it's an international mother' habit of including all the names of their kids as they try to call one of them ;) such a nice example Bob!

Thank you, Sepmre.
Because of my poor reading comprehension, I couldn't understand BobK's post until I read yours.

Neither could I.
