despite rule

i am confused between c and d
i think d is correct but also c seems correct
anyhelp

I am confused between c and d. I think d is correct but also c seems correct.
Any help please?

d. is correct.

Zaedsul:

(1) I think that many American teachers would be rather upset with the semicolon (;). I believe that they would suggest

a comma:

Despite the fact that he was a great actor, he didn't appear in many films.

(2) I also believe that many teachers might feel that "despite the fact that" is too "wordy."

(a) I believe that it might be "tighter" writing to say:

Despite being a great actor, he did not appear in many films.

P.S. In writing, it might be a good idea NOT to use contractions such as "don't." "Do not" is more formal and perhaps more

pleasing to the eye.
