This is an entry from my diary. Please check it and correct any mistakes.

After many years of reading books, I've found that usually a book with a mediocre cover is boring, especially its design is so simple that I can even create it, unless the book's a classic. If a writer put so much effort to write a book, why don't he put some effort to make the cover interesting? Even for the same book, I would choose a better cover to buy if its price was not much higher than the less interesting one.

1. I'm sure you can improve on "After many years of reading books". It's a bit bland.
2. There's something missing somewhere in "especially its design is".
3. We don't "put effort to + infinitive". Both the preposition and verb are wrong. Search for some examples of the correct usage.
4. I'm certain you know that "don't he" isn't right.

If a writer put so much effort into writing a book, why doesn't he put some effort into making the cover interesting? Even for the same book, I BUY A BOOK WITH A BETTER COVER if its price was not much higher than the less interesting one.

That's so much better, @Maybo. My only query now is about the final sentence. Are you saying "If I were the writer, I'd pay more for someone to design a better cover even if it cost me more" or "I, as the reader, would pay more for a book with an interesting cover than for one without"? I've assumed the latter.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - read your pieces multiple times before submitting them to the forum. Read them as if someone else wrote them. Ask yourself:
- Is everything spelled correctly?
- Are all the sentences complete?
- If I hadn't written this, would I understand exactly what it means?

Off-topic comment: I think you’ll find that unless the author already has a number of successful books in publication and/or some sort of celebrity status, they will have no say in their book’s cover design. The publisher will decide on that.

Yes, I meant this one.

No wonder many book covers look very similar. I’ve been suspecting the publishers have been using the same templates. :ROFLMAO:
