@emsr2d2 I understand all that. I was replying to @tedmc's comment, which I did not understand at all.

Oh, I see. I thought ted's response basically said what I said! You suggested that without using "might not", a statement meant something was definite. Tedmc pointed out that my use of "suspect" meant that saying "might not" was unnecessary.

Well, "might not" certainly changes the meaning of the sentence. In any case, I don't think we have any kind of an argument at all.
