Hi,

I'd be really thankful if any dear poster could tell me the difference, if any, between the two.

So many thanks.

Indeed, what I got is that both have similar definitions, that is, to use bad language showing no respect for god or religion. Am I right? Not any difference?

Note that "profane" is always transitive. It cannot, therefore, mean use bad language showing no respect for God or religion. You can only profane something.

Sorry, Mehrgan - I should have looked in a dictionary myself.

I've never in my life heard profane used a verb, and thought it was only an adjective.

When people generally talk about profanity, it can mean any rude language, including swearing, etc, while blasphemy is related to religion.
