What do you think is the difference between 1 and 2? Is 1 more about "emphasizing my words"? For it, I can see a teacher rebuking a student in a picture of my grammar book.

They are so different that I fail to see how you think they are in any way similar.

For a start, one's a question and the other's a statement.

If you strip off the syntactical differences, you 'make yourself understood' in a situation where there is a real hindrance to communication - like a differnce in language. 'Do I make myself clear?' is a rhetorical question; it means something like 'I've told you this umpteen times before and this is your last chance to get it right'.

"Am I making myself understood?" can mean the same as 1. to me.
