Why do you want to turn the question into what could only be a totally unnatural passive construction?

Try "orbit":

Does the sun orbit around the earth?
Is the earth orbited by the sun?

Yes, the passive voice is a strange construction. The notion that the sun orbits around the earth is a strange concept as well.
Perhaps the OP is writing about pre-Copernican thought.
