Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
“Don’t touch it,” I had found the opportunity to whisper; “in your state, it will make you as drunk as a fiddler” (Stevenson’s “The Wrecker”, chapter XI)
drunk as a fiddler = drunk as fish/ drunk as a lord/ blind drunk/ half seas over
