Hello Sir/Ma'am,

I have just given an exam and have a doubt in one of the Questions

Following is a passage which has not been edited and it has an error in each line. Write the wrong word and the correct word besides it:

One day as the girl was played in the courtyard,
the ball bounced very high that it flew through the
neighbour's window. Unfortunately a ball
fell on a crystal case right over the window sill
and shattered it from pieces. An old lady stormed
out and complaining so long that the
other neighbours began to come from their houses.

I know it is easy, but I have a doubt in the 4th line. So I am requesting u to find the error in the 4th line and notify me the same

Thank you
Regards
Adithyan

What about a crystal vase?

I agree that "crystal vase" makes sense but for me that means there are two errors in the fourth line. Were you told that there is only one error in each line?

Please see my amendments to your post in red. Make sure you put a punctuation mark at the end of every sentence and please don't use textspeak-style abbreviations (don't write "u", write "you").

Hello Adithyan,

There are a couple of possibilities:
- fell on a crystal case above the window sill
- fell on a crystal case on the window sill

Are you certain the word is "case" and not "vase?"
Are you required to keep the word "right?"
What about the errors in all the other lines?

Hello John, I took the same exam recently and even I have the same doubt.By the way, You are right. The world is "vase" NOT "case" and yes, we do require to keep the word "right" in the sentence. So, if you could, please help us out !!

Well then, as emsr2d2 said above, that means there are two errors in the fourth line.
It a very poor question, probably not constructed by a native speaker. I don't see how I can help you unless you would like to write a correct sentence by correcting both errors.

If the vase were right (= directly) under the window sill, it could work.

It could be "a crystal vase just over the window sill".

Regardless, there are still two errors in that line: 1) the spelling of "vase" and 2) "right over" doesn't work.
