The answer is (D). How about (B)? (B) cannot be an ansewr?
(B) is semantically awkward? Thank you ^^ :lol:

I think (B) is just as good as (D).

I disagree. In this case, only “neither” makes sense to me.

If you want to say one of the two subjects realized, you can say “One of the two subjects realized…” or “Either subject A or subject B realized … "
