Which of these is correct?

1. "Her dogs are English Setter Lab mix."
2. "Her dogs are English Setter and Labrador mix."

I would understand either, but 1. might not work for other combinations of breeds..

I'd write Her dogs are English setter/Labrador cross, or Her dogs are English setter and Labrador crossbreeds.

I'd put a slash between Setter and Lab. Otherwise it sounds like the dog was mixed in an English Setter laboratory.

I only meant that among the many breeds in an expression of that type the breed classifications might run together. To be clear your #2 would be better.
