Dear teachers,

is there any difference in equip and prepare in the following examples?

1.
What exercises will prepare me for hiking?
2.
What exercises will equip me for hiking?

The correct phrase would be: What exercises will prepare me for hiking?

Use equip when referring to objects that you would normally wear or use. You do not "equip" exercises.
