Do I need the word "from" with the verb "exit" in this sentence?

We exit (from) the FA Cup.

Is this your own sentence? Can you provide the context with which you want to use it?

Probably:

We exited the FA Cup.

You didn't qualify for the next round.

My side got a real hiding and couldn't make it through to the next round. In this context, do I need the word "from" with the verb "exit" to mean my side are dumped out of the competion?

The most natural way for a BrE speaker to say it is "We got knocked out of the FA Cup". If you really want to use "exit", use what Tarheel suggested in post #4.
