In our course books it's been mentioned to express abilities in the past on a particular occasion you can use was/were able to, manged to and succeeded in. I wonder if we can use them, especially manage to and succeed, to refer to present or future as well?

"Do you think he'll manage to escape in time?"
"Will she succeed in swimming the English Channel?"
