[Grammar] Expressing preferences

Hello!!!
As far as i know these are the rules (speaking of preferences):
i prefer drinkING (ing-termination) (prefer + ing)
i would prefer TO see him in person (infinitive) (would+prefer+infinitive)

but...

I´d prefer liv(ing) in a city to liv(ing) in the country...
(WOULD+PREFER+ING?)

Remember to start every sentence with a capital letter and to end every sentence with one single punctuation mark.

In many (but not all) cases, the gerund form (-ing form) or the infinitive from (to form) can be used interchangeably with no or little change in meaning.

I prefer to drink
I prefer drinking.

I prefer seeing him in person.
I prefer to see him in person.

In many cases the only difference is subtle, with the gerund form being more real or tangible and the infinitive form being more hypothetical or supposed.
