Hello.

Is it wrong to use "for" in my sentence? Should I change it into "She prefers to go/going to other places to have breakfast"

"She hates Macdonald's and prefers other places for breakfast."

Your sentence is fine.

But isn't there a difference between "prefer to do" and "prefer doing"?
"She prefers to have breakfast at Macdonald's" and "She prefers having breakfast/breakfasting at Macdonald's" mean the same thing. I prefer the first version.
