frazzled/frayed nerves

Does "frazzled nerves" mean pretty much the same as "frayed nerves"?

There's also the expression my "nerves are shot".

As you see, they do not mean exactly the same, although I would say they cover some common ground. IMO, however, "frayed nerves" does mean more or less the same as "shot nerves".
