Hey,

In my favourite movie, the Big Lebowski, Tony the Chauffeur complains to the Dude:

“My wife’s a pain in the ass. She’s always busting my friggin’ agates. My daughter’s married to a real loser bastard. And I got a rash so bad on my ass, I can’t even sit down. But you know me. I can’t complain.”

Im afraid I don't get the phrase: She’s always busting my friggin’ agates.

Can you explain to me what it means? What does he refer to as agates? :-o

Thank you.

I suppose "agates" mean "family jewels", i.e. testicles. "Friggin'" is a minced oath. And the following link should explain the rest: Urban Dictionary: Bust BALLS

I wouldn't call frigging a minced oath- it's not like freaking. To frig is to masturbate, especially for a female.

If you google "define: frig" it seems you're both right.

Thanks all for reactions, I have got further from busting agates to busting balls. Yet, I seem not to understand either. Does the sentence mean his wife is forever bothering/pestering him?
