gerund and infinitive

Hi guys I need your help.
Let me introduce examples.

1) Being appointed to the board of directors is great responsibility.
2) Being accepted to Harvard is great thing.

All the pervious examples are passive gerund. Could anybody helps me to convert it to active. really it confused me? and if you can help me to understand it i will be happy

Part 2.

I would like to get my hair trimmed a little.

Here why is (Trimmed) in past not in present (trim) and if the answer because it is in passive form. Then where the (be) after my hair

Here "get" is a causative verb and "trimmed" a past participle.

For part 2 please click on the following link. Then you might need to check "past participle". Learning "past participle" and "present participle" helps you with the grammar. It has nothing to do with "passive form" as I know.

I think it is possible to change these passive forms into active, but I am afraid the meaning will differ.

1) Appointing to the board of directors is great responsibility.
2) Accepting [STRIKE]to [/STRIKE]Harvard is (a) great thing. (this one has been changed drastically)
