Would you tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?

Later on he got a new angle on the matter.

get a new angle on something = change one’s opinion

Not necessarily. It means he got some new information that gave him a different point of view or that he thought of a new way to look at the issue.

The new information or way of thinking might or might not have changed his mind about the matter.
