Hello,
Which structure is correct?
1. I'm going to the north part of the town.
Or
2. I'm going to the northern part of the town.
I'd be grateful for your opinion.
 
In my opinion most North Americans would use north but wouldn't consider northern incorrect, so I'd say both are correct.

If you're referring to the town you're in, say "... part of town" (no second "the").
