going to the doctor
going to the doctor's
going to a doctor
going to a doctor's

self-made

Hi,
I want to mean seeing a doctor. Are all correct? Do they have the same meaning? Which one is more common in the place you live?

Thank you.

In my opinion all four are acceptable, but the last one is slightly unnatural and probably therefore the least common.

I agree all four are acceptable. They're probably equally common in my area, but that's a guess.

Which one of them would you use?

I'd use the first one: I'm going to the doctor.

In most parts of China, we use the first one and the second one.

In British English "doctor's" may be used to mean the surgery rather than a specific medical professional.

I might say "I'm going to the doctor's for my flu vaccination" even though it will be administered by a nurse.
