How can we be good friends? VS. How can we be a good friend? Are both grammatically correct and why?

Are "we" a singular friend?

Are "we" a singular friend?
I guess "we" as a pronoun is always plural. Is there in any case that we can say "how can we be a good friend?".

No. "How can I be a good friend?" or "How can we be good friends?"

The first one is all about your own actions.

"How can we be a good friend to someone in need?"
So without the added "to someone in need", "How can we be a good friend?" is not acceptable?

I consider it acceptable in the right context. In that sentence, "we" can be used in the same way as the all-encompassing "one" or "you", simply meaning "someone" or "people".

Note my change to your post above. Please use the standard way of constructing a question. Don't just write a statement and put a question mark at the end.

I can't see a good reason to use the plural pronoun 'we'.

How can you be a good friend?
