Grammar assistance

I was wondering if anyone could please help me with the following question, I have spent two weeks studing 30 questions, a few of the questions have me stuck. I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

I'm trying to find out the correct grammatical or identify the correct tense or grammatical category.

For example:

'He is swimming really well' is an example of present continuous.

The following are the ones I am having trouble with:

• The new supermarket was opened last year.
• I live in a small city close to Oxfordshire.
• I have already told you.
• John is having a big party on Sunday.
• I haven't been to the gym for years.
• Have you ever met the Queen?
• If you don't do the work, you won't pass your exams.
• Guernica was painted by Picasso.
• I can't play the saxophone.
• By the time we had arrived, the plane had taken off.
• He's been working all night!
• Look at my beautiful platinum ring.

#1. The new supermarket opened last year. (Sentence should be in past participle rather than in passive )

#10. By the time we arrived , the plane had taken(use 3rd form of verb in past perfect tense ) off ( 2nd work should always be in past participle if two work happened in past)

@jack: You are wrong about #1, #4 and #10 - ie. all the ones you've "corrected". All of the sentences are correct, and that wasn't the question. Your willingness to help is laudable, but there are many teachers here who can give correct answers.

Hi Dominello, I wasn't trying to put you through an inquisition. But before I answer your question, would you confirm that you are a native speaker of English - that is, that you started to learn it shortly after birth as any other native English-speaker does?
It's important here because the way we answer questions sometimes depends upon what we can assume about your competence in English.

PS: It would also help if you tried to give answers to your questions first. That way, we only have to answer the ones you have wrong, and it's a better learning experience for you.
