Which sentence is correct?

John, Steve and me are going to the concert tonight.

or

John, Steve and I are going to the concert tonight.



Also, is it correct to put a comma before the word "and", EX. below:

I listen to pop, metal, and rock music.

or is this correct:

I listen to pop, metal and rock music.

I agree with 5jj on both counts. I prefer the second sentence regarding the music.

With your first question, there is a trick to help you work out whether to use "me" or "I". Here's what you do - remove the other people (apart from yourself) from the sentence and see what you are left with. If it's grammatically correct, then you had the right choice.

Suggested sentence: John, Steve and me are going to the concert tonight.
Now remove John and Steve.
What's left?: Me [verb] going to the concert tonight.
I'm sure you know that's wrong.

Suggested sentence: John, Steve and I are going to the concert tonight.
Now remove John and Steve.
What's left?: I [verb] going to the concert tonight.
As you can see, that's fine. It would become: I am going to the concert tonight.

Therefore, "John, Steve and I are going ..." is correct.
