In Britain, there are schools named “grammar school”. I’d like to know whether it’s because students in those schools have to learn grammar.

No I'd better leave it to our BrE teachers to explain what they are and why they are called grammar schools.

Originally, the term was "gramer scole", taking its name from the fact that such schools taught students the grammatical structures of (mainly) Latin and Greek. The name stuck but it no longer has any particular connection with the teaching of grammar.
