Dear teacher,
what is better (right):

Since 1997 he has worked (has been working) in several (various) medical centers.

He came to Boston in 1997. Since then he has worked (has been working) in different (several) medical centers.

Thank you.
 
If he has worked in one centre at a time, then the simple form sounds better to me.
