Gays and lesbians often find themselves isolated from the society.Think of Rosie O'Donnell and Billy Bean.I am sure they had it hard,too.
Why do women thinks they have it harder than men when society often let them get away more easily.

Is this the Antonym of "have it easy". Could you give some more example.
