I saw someone wrote, "Having private parties are so much fun."

Then a friend told me it should be, "Having private parties is so much fun."

Which is the correct sentence?

Welcome to the forum, irishperalta.

That should be 'I saw someone write...'

or

'Someone wrote...'

The subject is "having", a gerund. As such, it is a singular noun.

I think 'private parties' as the object of 'having' cannot be the subject of verb following it.

I'd go with your friend.
