Are these sentences both natural?

a) He educated himself through independent study.
b) He educated himself through independent studies.

In what context?
In the context that many people nowadays are studying English by themselves. They don't go to any language schools or employ any teachers.

Actually I wrote to describe sentence to describe myself. I've been learning this language for many years and I learn it by myself. I haven't go to any language schools or employed some private teachers to teach me English. Learn from reliable textbooks and some online sources.

So, which one is better here?

Neither really works if all you're talking about is learning English. There is much more to being educated than just knowing English. That said, English does have a rarely-used word that means self-taught or self-educated person: autodidact.

Since you're talking about yourself, let's start by changing the pronoun to "I" instead of "He".

I've learned all the English I know through self-study.
