We do say 'He met with an accident'.

'He meets with an accident whenever he goes out'.


I couldn't recognize the sense of accident here. Would you please help me match its definition? According to that context, which definition [STRIKE]is fit[/STRIKE]fits, please?

Not a teacher.
 
It means that an accident occurred that involved the person.
 
May I take 'an accident' to mean 'something untoward' here?
 
In the whenever example, I'd say yes.
