Hi all,

What's the difference between hear of and hear ?

I hear of that news

I hear that news

Many thanks

You can hear the news, hear a bell, hear a noise, hear a rumour etc.

'Hear of' means 'learn about' - 'I heard of my brother's death'; 'Have you heard of the rescue of those trapped miners?'
