Suppose a person has a British father and an American mother. Which of the following can be said of him?

1) He's as British as American.
2) He's as much British as American.

Or are they both wrong?

So, the second "he is (American)" is necessary, right?

Also, are "British" and "American" adjectives here?

Not only is the second "he is" unnecessary in AmE, it is usually omitted.

Here's another way to put the idea:

He is equal parts British and American.
