The link engee30 has provided is very helpful. I thought Hillary was more authentic, all due to Mrs. Hillary Clinton. Now it seems that Hillary is a variant of Hilary, not the other way around.:roll:

I expect to find 'Hilary' as a given name, predominantly, and to find 'Hillary' as a family name (predominantly). But, as some previous respondent said, anyone can choose any name they like, and choose their spelling.
