how this band works with math

This strange band was first made in the 1800s by a German man named August Mobius. Mr Mobius studied math. He wanted to find a way to prove how this band works with math. Believe it or not, This band has only one surface. You can find this out for yourself.

I don’t quite understand “how this band works with math”. Does it mean how this band is related to math?
