I want to ask question.. maybe anyone of you have the same problem with me to control your class.. I teach in one of English Course in Sidoarjo-Indonesia. Actually the class is not too big.. just ten students.. but there are one hyperactive students (boy) that influence their friends to disturb the other friends. therefore all of the boy in the class follow his activity. I try to make activity that make they enjoy my class.. but the hyperactive boy still doesn't follow my instruction.. anyone can help me?

I think you should try the other activity to make your students enjoy and follow well your class.. maybe with the interesting games..;-)

u can use boardgame that the picture or words related to the topic.. I think most of young learner love it

Thank u..... :)

I think you should build the deeper engagement. Make sure that you know their need during the learning process. So, if you close with your students, they will follow what you ask/command.

***** NOT A TEACHER *****

Hello,

Yes, you are correct: "A rotten apple spoils the barrel."

Does your school have a procedure regarding disruptive students? (Sending him to the office? Making him stay after school?)

Many teachers agree on this: everything depends on the START of your class each day.

As your ten students walk in each day, they should have something to do immediately.

It could be anything: (a) they copy a poem that you have written on the chalk-, whiteboard, (b) they do a short grammar lesson that is on a handout that they get as they enter the room, (c) they are expected to take dictation as soon as the class begins. (Does your class begin with a bell? If it does, you start dictating as soon as the bell stops. Let them know that the dictation will be checked and counted as part of their marks.)

You should have a seating chart. Let them know that you will change seats as needed -- every day if possible. You will soon learn which students should be separated from one another.

Best wishes!

James

P.S. You could also make that bad boy your assistant. Give him jobs to do, e.g., handing out books and collecting them, turning the air-conditioning on / off, etc. He will feel important and soon demand that the other students behave themselves!

u can use ...
Thank u..... :)
Please pay attention to the following.

1. Such abbreviations as 'u' are unacceptable on this forum.
2. Clicking on the 'Thank' button can obviate the need for a new post saying 'Thank you', such is one of the many unwritten rules on this forum.
3. You have to state 'Not a teacher' in your answers unless you are a teacher.

I am not a teacher.
