Hello,

I have a question regarding the conversation below;

A: I wouldn’t leave you crying in another room and not go to you, would I?
B: Listen if you ever see me crying, please make sure you do!

Does B mean "If you see me crying, please leave me alone." or "Make sure you come to me"?
I'm not sure which parts B responds, "leave you crying" or "not go to you".

Thank you,
Tara

B is ambiguous. It may equally well mean either of your two interpretations. Some additional context might possibly resolve the ambiguity.

Hi probus,

Thanks a lot for answering my question.
Before this conversation, A says "Parents should not leave their babies crying." and
B says "Leaving a baby to cry it out isn’t abusive."
So I guess B means "If you see me crying, please leave me alone."

Thank you.
Tara

So do I.
